Looks like even months after it's release, the charm of Ryan Reynold's Deadpoolrefuses to die down! The movie has now become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time worldwide from the wider X-Men film!
Ryan Reynolds’s comic book movie, overtook “The Matrix Reloaded” haul of USD 742 million, reported Digital Spy. The action comedy has scooped USD 754million till now. Fending off sharp competition from the likes of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” the original trilogy, “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “X-Men First Class”. “Days of Future Past” came in second with USD 747million, while Brett Ratner’s “X-Men: The Last Stand” grossed USD 459 million, in third place. The original “X-Men” movie, directed by Bryan Singer, has made USD 296m while “Wolverine” made USD 373million.
But that's not the only record Deadpool has broken. There have been several others which this movie has broken.
Biggest R-rated opening weekend:
Deadpool crushed the prior R-rated opening weekend record, set in 2003 by The Matrix Reloaded.
Biggest opening weekend for a first-time director:
This was the director Tim Miller’s first feature film as a director. Pretty cool debut, right!
Biggest 20th Century Fox
It bested the $108 million Fri-Sun debut of Fox’s Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith back in 2005.
